Teton Science Schools of Jackson, Wyoming is seeking a highly motivated administrator/educator with extensive science education experience to create plan and implement field science education programs for kids, families and adults in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Teton Science Schools have offered quality education experiences since 1967. Our two campuses sit on the doorstep of Grand Teton National Park, our wilderness classroom where we offer direct learning experiences with the natural world through exploration of the landscape and wildlife.

Qualifications
• Willingness to work long hours and untraditional work weeks including some nights and weekends
• Three years outdoor education and/or science education experience
   o Extensive experience creating, implementing and evaluating natural science curriculum
   oExtensive risk management experience
   o Experience facilitating large groups
   o Ability to hike at least five miles a day while carrying a full backpack
   o Experience facilitating camping excursions and teaching backcountry skills
   o It is a requirement of the position that you are physically able to manage risk and make leadership decisions at all times while driving and leading groups on hikes in a wilderness setting
• One year educational leadership and administrative experience
   o Superior organizational skills
   o Experience with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook
   o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
   o Ability to work both independently and cooperatively on a team
   o Willingness to take initiative, solve problems and manage a variety of tasks calmly, effectively and with humor
   o Experience mentoring and evaluating educators
• Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in science, education or related field. Master’s degree in science, education or related field preferred.
• Spanish speaking skills preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
   o No DUI or DWI in the past 3 years
   o No more than two moving violations in the last three years
• At least 21 years old by September 1, 2010
• Wilderness First Responder and CPR certifications valid through May 2012.

Responsibilities
• Work with visiting groups to develop customized high-quality natural science and environmental education programs for adult, family, and/or youth residential and nonresidential programming
• Work with a team of educators to assure the implementation of thematic, place-based, hands-on curriculum for field days and evening programs
• Mentor a team of educators in facilitating programs that include:
   o Understanding of local natural history
   o Inquiry-based learning
   o Participation in field research
   o Participation in stewardship projects
   o Meaningful use of technology
   o Development of teamwork, communication and leadership skills
   o Responsibility for self and care of equipment
   o Skill development for hiking, backcountry travel, front country camping and backcountry living
   o Management of participant risk and empowerment of participants to become risk managers during all instructor-led activities
• Creation and implementation of systems that assure high quality and efficient customer service for all programs
• Training, evaluation and development of a team of educators including professional field education instructors, AmeriCorps interns and graduate students
• Assist with cleaning and maintaining residential lodges, teaching spaces, dining lodge, equipment and supplies
• Confident driving fifteen passenger vans, canoe trailers and mini-buses to transport students, staff and equipment to field sites
• Assist with administrative duties including paperwork, conference logistics and general maintenance
