advocating and speaking out for the preservation of nature conservation

at a national level and in our communities throughout Aotearoa New Zealand.

We operate the Kiwi Conservation Club (KCC) where New Zealand children aged

5 - 13 and their parents are encouraged to connect with nature conservation

in their local community and beyond.

Join us in connecting New Zealand kids and their parents with nature conservation.

Reporting to our Kiwi Conservation Club Manager, this part-time (30 hours

per week) role is pivotal to the success of KCC by ensuring our nationwide

volunteer KCC coordinators have the resources and training they need to

deliver engaging and high-quality learning experiences for all our KCC members.

This position is all about communication so you need to be confident interacting

face-to-face as well as using tools such as WordPress, Facebook, and MailChimp.

A key focus for this role is taking editorial ownership for the development

and creation of our quarterly “Wild Things” magazine as well

as designing awesome learning resources on all sorts of conservation-based

activities.

Who are we looking for?

Your background will include working with children aged 5-13 years - you

know kids, what makes them tick, and what makes an engaging educational

resource. You have personal drive, an ability to get things done, and your

personality allows you to get along and work with people from all walks

of life. More specifically, to be successful in this role, you will ideally

have the following attributes:

Tertiary qualification in the education field (desirable)

Experience creating education material for children

Creativity, initiative and problem solving skills

A real interest in conservation and the natural world

Positive interpersonal skills and the ability to work with colleagues and

relate to people at all levels and all backgrounds in the community

Excellent written and spoken communication skills

Personal organisation and self-discipline

Great technical skills (or the ability and willingness to learn) - e.g.

Microsoft Office, WordPress, MailChimp, Facebook

Note: It is a non-negotiable requirement of this role for the successful

candidate to obtain (and maintain) a clear police check and first aid certification.

What will you get in return?

This role provides you with the opportunity to make a big impact on the

whole organisation by instilling a life-long interest in conservation and

the work of Forest & Bird in our younger members. Additionally, Forest &

Bird employees enjoy a family-friendly, flexible workplace with generous

leave provisions and opportunities for professional development.
