Background

Change Agents UK is a national sustainability and educational charity and not-for-profit organisation based in Oakham, Rutland. Previously known as Student Force for Sustainability, Change Agents UK has been recruiting, training and supporting graduates (or ‘Change Agents’, as they are known) into employment in the sustainability sector since 1996.

We are creating a network of Change Agents; people empowered to live and work in a way that makes a positive impact on the world around them.

The Education Projects Coordinator would be involved in a number of initiatives including Green Impact, Student Green Fund (SGF) and College & University Sustainability Placements (CUSP). The role involves creating opportunities for young people to work in paid sustainability positions and recruit, train and support ‘Change Agents’ to drive forward the environmental initiatives within respective Higher Education institutions.

Objective

The Education Projects Coordinator will be responsible for the recruitment, selection, induction and on-going support for graduates working in universities, colleges and potentially other public body institutions and commercial sector companies in the UK.

The largest part of the role will be coordinating the Green Impact Programme for Change Agents UK, this will involve a degree of marketing and outreach to sell the placements to institutions from May-June and then recruitment of the SBAs from July-October. The other types of Education placements will run throughout the year on different timelines.

Recruitment will involve shortlisting applicants CVs, telephone interviews, face-to-face interviews and assistance with their induction and support. The Education Projects Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that the whole cycle of recruitment, training and support runs smoothly, this will include planning and running some training courses. The objective is to ensure this outreach, recruitment, training and support for graduates to work in Educational institutions across the UK is done efficiently, in a way that upholds the reputation of Change Agents UK and meets the expectations of the host organisation or institution.

Benefits of this opportunity

This opportunity offers the successful applicant a chance to be part of a vibrant team and to coordinate an award winning programme centred on sustainability and behaviour change. The Education Projects Coordinator will also develop a range of skills and knowledge on the project. They will gain insight into the management of a national programme and in delivering a quality recruitment process.

This opportunity will give the successful candidate valuable experience with a professional recruitment process. This will provide them with insight into developing quality job applications and interview style when applying for future roles themselves. This is also a key skill for more senior-level positions. The successful candidate will also have an opportunity to liaise with clients, partners and graduates in the sustainability sector, thus enhancing their professional networks.
