Summary: Shallow Waters is a marine conservation NGO working toward a community-led coral reef management programme in the Koh Sdach archipelago, Cambodia.  As part of our commitment in the region, Shallow Waters is seeking an Education and Outreach Programme Officer (EO) to manage their volunteer and community environmental education and outreach work.

This is a VOLUNTARY position with a minimum commitment of four-months. The right person will have the opportunity to not only learn to scuba dive and get training in marine conservation and survey experience, but will also become an integral part of the team and help Shallow Waters fulfil their aim of delivering understanding about relevant conservation issues to people in the local community. We are looking for an enthusiastic education professional that can take forward, and improve upon, our current educational programme based around weekly English tuition and environmental education.

For this position we are offering a discount of 20% off the programme price.

Roles & Responsibilities: The EO’s primary role is to develop and manage all education and community outreach activities and involve other volunteers in the delivery of the programme.

Minimum Requirement: To qualify for this position the candidate will hold an internationally recognised teaching qualification with teaching experience gained in educational establishment. Ideally, S/He has a keen interest in marine biology and conservation with enthusiasm for learning and implementing community-based conservation activities.

Personal Specification: The right candidate must be in good physical fitness and ideally have experience working in remote areas in non-English speaking countries. The EO must be able to work both independently and together as a part of our small team, and be able to liaise with customers and volunteers in a friendly, effective and diplomatic manner. Personal qualities suited to this position include good communication skills, leadership, interpersonal skills, initiative, resilience, creativity and the ability to anticipate problems and find appropriate solutions.
