POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

 How would you like to work with a dedicated and professional staff on national writing projects? The National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT) is seeking an Editor to review, edit, research, develop, organize, and write technical publications regarding sustainable agriculture, rural development and energy. NCAT is a private non-profit corporation that works to foster and promote sustainable technologies and systems, especially for the benefit of economically disadvantaged individuals and communities. This full-time position will be based in NCAT’s Butte, Montana office.

 QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum requirements include a BA or BS degree in communications, journalism, business, sustainable agriculture, or another appropriate field plus two to three years of related experience or training.

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Excellent writing, editing and research skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Organizational and teamwork skills
  • Computer and Desktop Publishing skills
  • Familiarity with sustainability, agriculture, and energy issues and concepts is beneficial

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Edits and reviews technical manuscripts written by professional staff
  • Researches and writes technical information materials on sustainable agriculture, rural development, and energy issues in the form of publications, bibliographies, newsletters, materials for the web, and correspondence for diverse audiences
  • Participates on a variety of projects, working closely with other program and project staff
  • Sets editorial review standards and procedures, communicates technical review procedures to the staff
  • Provides assistance/direction for staff in developing new or updated publications
  • Ensures NCAT publications are well written and client appropriate

 SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience. Excellent benefits include paid vacation and holidays, health, life and disability insurance, a cafeteria and 401(k) plan and a pleasant, professional office environment.
