Description

Opportunity:

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a volunteer to assist with the development and implementation of EDGE Species Report Cards - a simple monitoring tool that will enable us to quantify, for each EDGE species, changes in conservation attention since the EDGE of Existence programme was launched in 2007.

The volunteer will assist with collecting and publishing data on current levels of conservation attention for each of the EDGE species highlighted on www.edgeofexistence.org. This will involve sending questionnaire surveys to relevant experts, reviewing the published and grey literature, analysing data and publishing the final report cards on the EDGE website.

Candidates should ideally have a relevant undergraduate or Masters level degree in conservation or a related subject, demonstrable strong analytical skills (with knowledge of basic statistics), experience of desk-based research, and excellent attention to detail.

The volunteering opportunity is for three to six months, starting in July 2015. The role is ideally four days per week and is based within ZSL’s Conservation Programmes department in Regent’s Park, London. Candidates should ideally live within easy daily reach of ZSL London Zoo. All applicants must be able to show that they have permission to work in theUK.

Please note that this is a voluntary position. However, ZSL will reimburse travel costs from within the Greater London area (up to the equivalent of a weekly zone 1-6 travel card) and up to £5 per volunteering day for lunch.

To Apply:

Please send a completed application form to Carly Waterman (carly.waterman@zsl.org) by Friday 12th June 2015. We regret that we will only be able to contact applicants who have been selected for interview.

The Zoological Society of London is a charity registered in England and Wales: no. 208728.
