This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in developing ecosystem service approaches to conservation policy and practice within one of the Country's foremost conservation organisations. In doing so, the post holder will help deliver the objectives of one of the Society's major conservation programmes over the next two years.
You will work with colleagues across the RSPB to: 1. Undertake, a number of site-based case studies, examining the benefits associated with alternative land or resource management options. 2. Plan and execute a program of awareness raising 3. Scope priorities for work to underpin Payment for Ecosystem Service (PES) schemes and potentially seek to initiate such schemes. 4. Support RSPB engagement in high level ES initiatives, such as the National Ecosystem Assessment or the Welsh Natural Environment Framework. 5. Write advocacy material for disseminating RSPB's views on policies and practices related to conservation and ecosystem services. 6. Be an external advocate for the ecosystem services approach insofar as it is consistent with nature conservation success. 7. Support senior conservation and advocacy staff in promoting our view to key audiences, 8. Examine on potential ES-related financing sources to support conservation efforts by the RSPB, or which raise the level of financing for conservation in general.
You will have a degree in a relevant subject such as economics, environmental policy or natural sciences and preferably a higher degree in a relevant subject. First-rate written, oral, and analytical skills will make you the ideal candidate.
