Description

Overview

Natural Power is a leading international provider of technical and management services to the renewable energy sector. We have an unbeatable track record in designing, constructing, and managing high quality, award winning projects. We have built a successful ethos for delivering environmentally rewarding projects that allow Clients to reach their economic objectives.

TheTeam

Our dedicated ecology team has industry leading expertise in the ecology requirements of wind, wave and tidal schemes. With completed and ongoing ecology work on UK wind farm sites totaling over 370MW our ecologists have played a major part in Natural Power’s success.

TheOpportunity

Natural Power continues to grow and we are looking for a well motivated enthusiastic Ecology Fieldworker, to join our ecology team. This is a position based predominantly in the field assisting the ecology team with carrying out ecological surveys and monitoring at wind, wave and tidal sites across the UK both onshore and offshore.

You will be responsible for carrying our ecological surveys which includes onshore and offshore bird surveys, water quality monitoring, vegetation/ habitat surveys, meteorological monitoring and mammal surveys. You will also be expected to produce reports and maintain the field sheets and work logs.

You should have good knowledge of British birds and protected animal species and awareness of the environmental issues affecting wind farms in the UK. You will have good communication skills both oral and written. It is essential you have a driving licence as the role requires frequent travel to wind farm sites.

Qualifications

Ideally we are looking for someone who has an ecological/ environmental degree or the equivalent. Good experience in bird surveying with recognised methodological approaches and ecology fieldwork (e.g. Phase 1 Habitat surveying, European Protected Mammal surveys, Fish, Invertebrates) is also essential. In particular experience including ESAS and MMO training for offshore monitoring for marine developments would be a recognised advantage.
