Stirling

Natural Power is a leading independent renewable energy consultancy and products provider offering consultancy, management and due diligence services across the onshore wind, offshore wind, wave, tidal and biomass sectors.  We have built a successful ethos for delivering environmentally rewarding projects that allow Clients to reach their economic objectives.

The Ecology & Hydrology Department within Natural Power over the last twelve years has developed an outstanding reputation for industry leading renewables expertise and consultancy services.  This has been achieved both for onshore and offshore services within a range of UK and European markets.

The Opportunity

Due to the continued success of the Ecology and Hydrology department, we are looking to recruit a highly motivated Ecology Data Assistant into newly refurbished office in Stirling.  Reporting into the Ecology GIS Technician you will primarily be responsible for providing data entry and data management services to clients within the wind (onshore and offshore) and wave/tidal industries.  A selection of duties and responsibilities include:

* Data entry of field data into spreadsheets; * Visualisation, presentation and processing of ecological data using ArcGIS; * Quality Assurance of data entry and GIS work carried out by other members of the team; * Provision of advice on data management; * Provision of regular progress reports for projects and team management, as required.

Knowledge and Experience

Ideally you will be degree qualified in a biological, environmental or ecological discipline, however this is not necessary.  Further to academic qualifications, you will have relevant experience in a similar role, fulfilling comparable duties and responsibilities as outlined above.  It is essential that you have experience of working with large datasets; ideally experience will have been gained from within an Environmental field.

You must be a proficient user of I.T., and in particular Microsoft packages.  Experience with GIS software, particularly ArcGIS, would be beneficial.  Experience of an ERP or document control package would also be a distinct advantage.
You will have excellent interpersonal skills being able to build meaningful relationships with stakeholders at all levels involved in project.  As a result of this, you will possess excellent communication skills being able to convey clear and concise information in both written and verbal format to colleagues, clients, contractors and third parties.

Due to the nature of the role, you will be expected to be flexible with your time and standard duties.

Further Details

Package offered will be dependent on your experience and fit for the role.  Further to salary, other benefits include; generous holidays that increase with tenure, group personal pension scheme, childcare vouchers, bike to work scheme, discounts at related companies, life assurance, critical illness cover, income protection as well as a weekly BBQ.  We offer a positive working environment, with a relaxed internal culture yet highly professional external reputation with excellent support mechanisms in place to develop your knowledge and career.

The position is based from Ochil House in Stirling.  Recently refurbished to an excellent standard, the office is just off the A91 with easy access to M80 and M9 motorways.  For those taking public transport the office is twenty minutes’ walk from Stirling train station.  For those more active, there is a bike shed, store room and showers available (why not take advantage of our bike to work scheme).  Further to this, we are next to The Peak sports complex offering; gym, pool, various courts/pitches, climbing wall amongst other things (why not take advantage of our corporate membership).     Full details are available on our website.  Please apply online by uploading your CV and cover letter; this should clearly set out why you are suitable for the role.  Our software uses CV parsing technology, so please ensure that information extracted is correct before submitting your application.
