Darwin Ecology is a well-established ecological consultancy with a great reputation for providing professional, innovative and nature conservation-led schemes. The company thrives on a collaborative approach between our two main offices in Farnham and Shaftesbury, supported by our satellite teams in Cornwall and Bristol. Together we provide a broad range of expertise to enable bespoke solutions for our clients across the south and south west of England. 
 
Our role as consultants is to assist our clients to realise their development ambitions through the planning process whilst also delivering our core ‘Integrated Conservation’ ethos. We find solutions to deliver this on every project through the protection, mitigation and enhancement of wildlife opportunities as part of the built environment.

We aim to strengthen your existing ecological specialisms, whilst being supportive about exploring new passions and taking your career in new directions. What Are We Looking For?
 
We are expanding our Dorset (Shaftesbury) and Surrey/Hampshire (Farnham) teams to meet increasing demand and are seeking experienced Ecologists who are passionate about ecology and conservation to help us with a wide variety of project based work.We are looking for three Candidates, locations can be flexible in our core working regions as some working from home will be possible.
 
Candidates should be well-rounded ecologists and meet the following minimum requirements:
  • Previous professional consultancy experience;
  • Demonstrable team and independent working skills; and
  • Proficiency in both report writing and field survey techniques.
Additional skills that will be considered advantageous particularly and lend themselves to consideration for the Ecologist roles include:
  • Existing Bat survey class license level 1 or 2;
  • Mitigation licensing experience;
  • Additional survey licences/skills (particularly for Birds, great crested newts or dormice); and
  • Experience of the planning system and associated technical processes such as Environmental Impact Assessments, Habitats Regulations Assessments and Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments.
  • Practical Habitat management skills and knowledge

Our Ecologist pay band ranges from £24,000 to £30,000. A generous profit linked bonus is paid annually on top of your salary at Ecologist level this has typically ranged from £1000 – £2500 and is intended to reward the team and let them share in the success of the business. We are also hiring Assistants and Seniors so get in touch whatever your skill level.
