Description

Cherwell District Council is looking for an ecologist to work alongside our existing, highly regarded ecology officer. Together you will work within a new Urban Design, Conservation and Environment Team to ensure biodiversity is at the heart of our place making functions. You will help us meet our statutory Biodiversity Net Gain requirements and the wider biodiversity implications of the Environment Act 2021 and NERC Act 2006.

The Person:

We need an enthusiastic and appropriately qualified Ecologist who is ready to secure Biodiversity Net Gain from our developments, work constructively with the development industry to achieve those aims, help develop our monitoring systems and provide wider expertise to support good place making and environmental enhancement more generally.

If you are an experienced Ecologist who is familiar with the development industry and can ensure join-up with our Development Management and Planning Policy teams, we would love to hear from you.

The Benefits:

The Council is an equal opportunities employer. We offer agile working, which means we don’t have a rigid work location. Our staff work from home and in the office to suit the business need. Other benefits include:

  • A generous annual leave entitlement 27 days + Bank holidays
  • Opportunity to join the Local Government Pension Scheme (Including Employer Contribution)
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Annual Flu Vaccination
  • £25 Annual eye test voucher
  • Incremental pay award (awarded annually in April after one years’ service)
  • Flexible working policy

Closing date: 21 July 2024.

Interview date: w/c 29 July 2024.
