Ecologist

Greenwillows Associates is a friendly, family-run independent ecological consultancy based near Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. We currently operate with five ecologists, two full-time admin staff, with an additional 20 part-time, mainly seasonal, field workers. We also participate in an ongoing paid internship scheme with The Open University.

We conduct a wide variety of protected species, arboricultural and habitat surveys across the East and South-East of England. Our clients range from large utility companies, developers and architects through to schools and individual homeowners.

We are currently expanding and also offer practical arboricultural works, habitat creation and habitat management services.

We have a fantastic opportunity available for an ambitious and passionate Ecologist to join our team.

Role Purpose

As part of our expansion we are recruiting for an Ecologist, with a minimum of two years’ experience in ecological consultancy, to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis. The role will incorporate both field and office work and you will be working directly with the main team based at the head office. The role will primarily incorporate work relating to UK protected species and habitats, but there also may be opportunities to undertake practical habitat management and creation depending on the candidate’s skill set and interests.

Key tasks

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to assist with all areas of our work, including:

• Undertaking ecological surveys
• Assisting with designing and implementing mitigation schemes
• Production of ecological reports and assisting with protected species mitigation licence applications.
• Small-scale project management
