Description

Ecologist

Birmingham                Ref: 25058386001

This is an excellent opportunity with a market leading design and construction consultancy. As a key member of a multidisciplinary Environmental team, you will carry out a wide range of ecology and environmental work. Your remit will span every aspect of highways design and maintenance, with increasing involvement in consultancy for other business areas, including rail.

Amey is one of the UK’s foremost end-to-end public services providers. We design, deliver, manage and support diverse services and infrastructure used by a quarter of the population. If service is our passion, people are our strength. Our dedicated teams are committed to improving quality and efficiency for the benefit of both our clients and their customers.

You will enjoy a broad variety of responsibilities - from providing guidance on methods and practice to meet legal and project requirements, through to liaising with clients on technical matters, and briefing colleagues on the latest legislation. As well as contributing to important project reports and tenders, you will undertake Phase 1 and 2 habitat surveys and protected species surveys. Your advice will span all kinds of key areas, including ecological watching briefs, ecological impact assessment and mitigation, site supervision and the inspection of environmental records.

To join us, you’ll need a relevant degree, professional experience in an ecology related role, and eligibility for Membership of CIEEM. You’ll bring to the role a proven track record in delivering ecological assessments, together with knowledge of environmental and highway standards, approved environmental codes of practice, and planning legislation. A skilled communicator and problem solver, you also demonstrate a flair for project management and coordination.

In return for your dedication, we offer a competitive salary and a range of advantages including a tailored flexible benefits scheme that gives you the chance to choose your own attractive rewards.

Closing date: 21 December 2013.
