Mott Macdonald is currently looking to recruit an ecologist for the Pembroke office.

Mott MacDonald has been significantly enhancing its ecological consultancy capabilities, and the ecology team now has a wide diversity of biodiversity skills and competencies. The team of 22 experienced ecologists has excellent knowledge and practical experience in delivering projects which integrate the importance of the ecological impacts and mitigations.

We seek an ecologist with protected species experience, to provide support to the Electricity Allience West (EAW) in undertake refurbishment works on OHL across Pembroke and south Wales. He/she will be working in a team ecologists undertaking a range of activities, including watching briefs, protected species surveys, mitigation works and reporting.

The team has experience in surveying and evaluating the range of UK habitats, as well as holding licenses to work with protected species. We have core skills in botany, aquatic invertebrates, aquatic macrophytes, amphibians, mammals and reptiles, with a strong track record of working in the water, power and highway industries.

The successful candidate will be:

• a competent ecologist with demonstrable UK experience, with a strong focus on protected species.  Experience of working with dormice will be distinct advantage, in particular someone with a current CCW dormouse licence.

• Excellent understanding of UK nature conservation legislation.

• Experience of working within the power industry (notably previous experience of working on overhead line refurbishment projects and sub-stations).

• Report writing skills essential, and experience of working in a team working to tight deadlines is essential.

• Willingness to travel across South Wales, and willingness to work overtime including possible weekend work.  Candidate must have a driving licence.

• Previous experience of working in Pembroke an advantage, as would previous experience of working with contractors.

• Associate/Graduate of IEEM useful.
