The team of 22 experienced ecologists has excellent knowledge and practical experience in delivering projects which integrate the importance of the ecological impacts and mitigations.

You will be working in a team of ecologists undertaking a range of activities, including watching briefs, protected species surveys, mitigation works and reporting.

The team has experience in surveying and evaluating the range of UK habitats, as well as holding licenses to work with protected species. We have core skills in botany, aquatic invertebrates, aquatic macrophytes, amphibians, mammals and reptiles, with a strong track record of working in the water, power and highway industries.

We offer a complete ecological assessment service to facilitate project delivery through meeting regulatory requirements, pushing forward best practice from project inception through to construction, operation and decommissioning both in the UK and overseas.
As an ecologist you will initially be based in our Bristol office.

You will be responsible for providing day to day ecological support to a range of projects.

You will be working within an environmental team, working closely with the project engineers to ensure programme delivery and ensuring that the work being undertaken is done in accordance with the specified requirements.

The work will include preliminary screening of ecological issues on sites, ecological watching briefs; Phase 1 ecological asessments, surveys for protected species; ecological impact assessments and undertaking ecological mitigation works as necessary. Project management and co-ordination of input to numerous schemes.
In this position we are looking for an ecologist looking to develop their career.

The successful candidate is likely to have the following characteristics;

• Significant experience with a strong focus on preliminary ecological assessments, Phase 1 ecological survey and planning support

• Excellent understanding of UK nature conservation legislation, including environmental impact assessments and planning guidance.

• Experience of working within the water industry.

• Able to demonstrate report writing skills.

• Able to demonstrate experience of of working in a team delivering projects on-time and to tight deadlines.

• Experience of Project management and monitoring budgets.

• Ability to travel across southwest of England for work including regular overnight stays. Able to work overtime including possible weekend work as required.

• Full UK driving licence.

• Dormouse licence desirable.
