ADAS is seeking an Ecologist to join our team. The role is a full-time, permanent position with flexibility to be associated with one of our regional offices in either the South West, South Wales, Oxfordshire, the Midlands or Cambridgeshire. This is a mixed office and home-based role, however, applicants will need to be commutable to one of our ADAS offices. ADAS is currently expanding and we are keen to find an ecologist to specialise in the delivery of bat related work.

Our Ecology business comprises a highly skilled team focused on providing services to a wide range of clients, particularly infrastructure projects, developers, utility companies and the renewable energy and rural industries.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leading on key bat related project work, including mitigation design and licensing
  • Working as a team with our existing ecologists to ensure quality projects are delivered on time to our clients
  • Managing projects from inception to finalisation
  • Talking to our clients and providing solid technical advice
  • Writing of technical reports including but not limited to, Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Ecological Impact Assessments, Mitigation Strategies and protected species reports
  • Leading on protected species surveys

Person Specification:

  • Graduate level education in a relevant subject
  • CIEEM membership
  • Demonstrable ecology related experience with good working knowledge of ecology, legislation, and survey techniques, including protected species surveys and mitigation
  • Natural England Level 2 survey licence for bats (or equivalent)
  • Experience of designing bat mitigation and applying for bat derogation licences
  • Experience of managing projects and liaising effectively with clients
  • Excellent written communication skills and be able to produce accurate technical reports
  • A full driving licence, access to your own vehicle and be commutable to one of our offices

Salary and Benefits

  • £24,000 - £37,000 per annum, depending on experience
