We have a great opportunity for a passionate Ecologist to join our team and work in one of Australia’s best locations.

 

We are a multi-disciplinary environmental management and design consultancy based in Northern NSW with offices in Lennox Head and Coffs Harbour. Our principle services are environmental planning and assessment, ecology, civil and environmental engineering and urban design. We are looking for a suitably qualified, experienced and highly-motivated Ecologist to join our team of professionals in our Coffs Harbour office on a full-time, 12-month contract (with the potential for extension of contract subject to work load).

The role will involve:

  • Desktop assessment, field surveys and report writing for ecological assessment and monitoring projects.
  • Providing ecological input into development and infrastructure projects, including identifying constraints and opportunities.
  • Contributing to broader environmental assessment reports (eg. EIS, REF, SEE).
  • Ecological duties on large scale construction projects (eg. pre-clearing surveys and assessments, spotter catcher duties. compliance monitoring and reporting).
  • Managing projects including proposal preparation, budget monitoring, work planning and client liaison. 

Selection criteria:

  • Tertiary qualification in ecology, environmental science or related discipline.
  • Experience in a similar role, with preference given to experience working in a consulting environment.
  • Ability to write clear, concise and accurate technical reports.
  • Knowledge of flora and fauna of NSW North Coast region.
  • Knowledge of relevant state and commonwealth legislation.
  • Ability to provide sound ecological advice and recommendations to clients and colleagues.
  • Understanding of managing projects including budgets and work programs.
  • Competence working with Microsoft Office, GIS/ mapping and project management software.
  • A sound understanding and commitment to sustainability principles.
