Description

The job has a dual role – to work with departments of the Council that are developing and implementing policies, plans and projects, and also to contribute to the work of the Council’s Planning Service, ensuring that the Council delivers its S6 Biodiversity Duty as set out in the Environment (Wales) Act 2016, in a cost effective manner, and meets all other wildlife and policy requirements.

The post holder will  provide expert advice on ecology and biodiversity to all departments and officers of the County Council that develop and implement policies, plans and projects (with or without partner organisations) to ensure that these take full account of relevant national, and international legislation, including the Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2017 (as amended), Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015, Environment (Wales) Act 2016, the Protection of Badgers Act 1992 and the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, and Local and National planning policy. 

The post is based in Carmarthen.

A basic knowledge of Welsh is required to accomplish this post. Support can be provided on appointment to reach this level.
