Description

This Position is a fixed term contract position up to 31 March 2018, renewable upon mutual agreement and performance. Remuneration: is on C4 Paterson salary scale,basic salary of R20 147.69 per month.(Total Cost to Company)

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Nature Conservation or Equivalent
  • 3 years working knowledge of EPWP programme and the Implemenatation of environmental projects
  • 3 years GIS experience including GPS mapping 
  • Experience working with ESRI Software e.g. Arcview, Arcpad 
  • ESRI I, II course completed will be added advantage
  • Fully computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office software packages such as Word, Excel, Power Point 
  • Knowledge of relevant environmental legislation such as National Water and National Environmental Acts
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Code EB drivers license

Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities of the successful candidate will include the following:

  • Facilitate collection of baseline information to assist in compilation of Park MUCP and APO across all programmes as well as providing technical assistance to projects during BSP’s annual planning 
  • Plan, co-ordinate and implement monitoring projects in BSP 
  • Integration of all biophysical data (vegetation, soil, degradation, rehabilitation etc) and assistance with prioritization of key areas in need of conservation attention
  • Manage the human resources as well as logistical resources within the projects
  • Manage the administration of the project according to requirements of different funding organizations
  • Communicating and liaising with all stakeholders and partners
  • Assist with data capturing, analysis and reporting on key findings from monitoring and research in Biodiversity Social Projects 
  • Support of Planning and Research Manager as well as BSP projects with desktop mapping and ad-hoc GIS tasks
