Ecolabel Account Manager - Austria, Germany, Switzerland (fixed term, maternity cover)

Introduction

The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) is a ground-breaking non-profit organisation dedicated to safeguarding the world’s seafood supply by awarding a blue Ecolabel on over 25,000 products sourced from sustainable fisheries. The use of the MSC’s logo is strictly controlled by a number of regulations and standards and this work, together with the task of collecting royalty payments, is conducted by the MSC’s trading arm, Marine Stewardship Council International (MSCI).

MSCI has experienced sustained growth across the globe and currently have two exciting opportunities within the Ecolabel and Licencing team to manage accounts in Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

Information on the role

The post holder is responsible for processing requests for use of the MSC ecolabel in Austria Germany, Switzerland and others when required. The post holder will work closely with the Communication teams and Commercial teams in the head office and the regions, communicating with them as required to discuss licensing issues as well as commercial issues impacting upon licensing. It will also involve building relationships with customers and some travel will be necessary.   

The procedures and policies around licensing the use of the ecolabel should be well recorded and updated when necessary. This can mean some policy work involving collaboration (within the licensing team and cross-departmental), the writing of and communicating the policies effectively, internally and externally.

The post holder will have a key role in:

  • Being the main ecolabel licensing team contact for their accounts
  • Providing information and advice on licensing related issues
  • Supporting the licensing team manager in project work, incoming queries, training MSC staff members, identifying and implementing efficiencies and ad hoc issues.
  • Management of any ecolabel officer positions, if held for the specified regions. Management of their accounts includes overseeing resource deployment for their accounts.
  • Conducting performance appraisals with individual EAOs

Post-holder also provide a pro-active and supportive service in relation to Ecolabel use to staff across the MSC and its charitable subsidiaries. In doing so, they will champion a customer focussed approach both internally and externally.

Responsibilities of the Role

Licensing - providing licences to eligible organisations wishing to use the MSC ecolabel;

Ecolabel Use Approval - approving the use of the MSC ecolabel on all products and product-specific marketing material, ensuring the processing of ecolabel use requests are reviewed and recorded efficiently and effectively on the MSC database;

Turnover Declarations - requesting and processing turnover declarations (sales/purchase statements) from licensees, ensuring MSCI royalty revenue can be invoiced accurately and in a timely manner by efficient processing of turnover declaration data;

Customer Relations - MSCI must ensure all issues related to the MSC ecolabel are being managed and are a mutual benefit to the scheme and the licensees, Solutions to any issues should be found within the agreed licensing policies, however, when necessary, issues to be escalated to Licensing Team Manager and FD;

Reporting - MSCI provides regular updates and reports on product and licensee numbers in the program, as well as graphs on turnover declaration data and product growth

Policy and projects – The above dimensions of the role need to be streamlined, with official policies written, collaborated on and communicated.  These tasks are designated by the Team Manager and the Finance Director.

Managing the Ecolabel account officer (where necessary).  Direct line management won’t be necessary but some co-ordination with an officer supporting the same accounts on the above mentioned tasks.

Skills and Experience

  • Fluent English and German, both spoken and written, is essential;
  • Additional languages are an advantage;
  • experienced organisational and administrative skills;
  • excellent attention to detail;
  • computer skills, including the use of standard software packages (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat);
  • demonstrable experience with contact management software and other databases;
  • experience preparing and delivering presentations and reports;
  • excellent communication skills;
  • experience of successfully managing relationships with colleagues and stakeholders (such as MSCI licensees), with a people-centred approach to business and work;
  • demonstrable cultural awareness and sensitivity to the diversity of values, views and approaches to issues relevant to the MSC programme by stakeholders around the world;
  • evidence of an willingness and enthusiasm to contribute to MSC-wide responsibilities and development, where appropriate, in pursuit of the MSC’s mission and vision;
  • knowledge of third party certification schemes and the role of ecolabelling.
