350.org is looking for a talented and driven communicator who is looking for a chance to uplift grassroot voices and put climate change on the agenda of East Asian media. The ideal candidate is a people person, with strategic mindset and experience in communications or public relations in the region.

About the East Asia Communications Coordinator

The role of the East Asia Communications Coordinator is to develop and implement communications strategies for 350.org’s regional campaigns, in alignment with global communications objectives. 
The East Asia Communications Coordinator will use digital communications and tap the potential of regional media moments to raise the voices of local communities affected by climate change and fighting for climate justice.

The East Asia Communications Coordinator will primarily focus on: media outreach to English-speaking regional outlets; empowerment and coordination of local communications liaisons ; trainings and capacity-building for communications.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least three (3) years of experience in media relations and communications in the region
  • Knowledge of the regional media landscape and strong media contact networks
  • Working knowledge of the current global debates on climate change and climate justice and strong interest in working on these issues
  • Full proficiency in English and fluency in at least one of the following languages: Chinese Mandarin, Filipino, Bahasa Indonesia, Thai, Korean, Vietnamese

Preferred Qualifications: desired, but not required, skills and experiences

  • Experience working remotely
  • Experience working in nongovernmental organization or nonprofit sector
  • Experience with data collection and media analysis
  • Experience in audience engagement through digital channels
  • Professional experience and competency working in an international environment and in multicultural groups
      • Experience working and living in multiple countries
      • Multilingual
    • Able to travel internationally on occasion
    • Proficiency in Meltwater, CiviCRM, Airtable, Google Suite, Slack, and Zoom or similar systems

    We are looking for someone who is comfortable working both independently and in teams, highly responsive, and able to lead initiatives as well as take direction from others.  

    Position Type: Full-time

    Compensation: competitive compensation based on experience

    Location: Anywhere in East/SouthEast Asia, this is a remote position
