Organizational Overview Southface Energy Institute, a nonprofit environmental organization that promotes sustainable homes, workplaces and communities through education, research, advocacy and technical assistance, seeks applications for an Existing Homes Project. EarthCraft House was established in 1999 by the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association and Southface to address the needs of improving new homes in the Southeast. EarthCraft House is a green building program that serves as a blueprint for healthy, comfortable homes that reduce utility bills and protect the environment. It has certified over 5,000 homes thus far and grown form an Atlanta based program to a regional program serving GA, SC, VA, TN and AL. |
Responsibilities: The Regional EarthCraft House Program Manager will perform a variety of functions within the programs at Southface and have responsibility for project scheduling, tracking, reporting, supporting field inspections of homes in the programs and training. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: |
• | Managing the EarthCraft House Regional program and grant contracts |
• | Provide leadership, guidance and technical support to technical advisors and builders pursuing EarthCraft House, ENERGY STAR, and LEED for Homes Certifications |
• | Tracking the environmental and energy efficiency features of units in the programs through visual verification or documentation |
• | Diagnostic testing and documenting the performance of units |
• | Work with key stakeholders to develop the EarthCraft House program in new markets in the Southeast region and identify potential providers for the EarthCraft House program in these markets |
• | Oversee quality assurance of the regional programs |
• | Diagnostic testing and documenting the performance of units |
• | Maintaining relationships with local and regional sponsors, technical advisors, partners and contractors |
• | Updating and revising technical trainings and guidelines as needed in the programs, and teaching professionals |
• | Providing website updates and periodical publications for the programs, as well as media attention, advertising and outreach |
• | Determining long range goals of programs and provide schedule and budget projections |
• | Assisting with various tasks supporting the Residential Green Building Services Team |
Qualifications: |
The successful applicant for the position will meet the following requirements: |
• | Minimum of two year’s experience in design, construction industry or related field |
• | A desire and ability to learn about energy efficient construction and green building, including diagnostic testing and become a Home Energy Rater |
• | Experience in sales, recruitment and project management |
• | Computer literacy with MS Windows, experience with Database management a plus |
• | Be willing to work in a dynamic setting, balancing time spent on construction sites and trainings with time spent in the office |
• | Good oral and written communication skills |
• | Desire to travel throughout the Southeast and work with local inspectors and builders in the various pilot regions |
• | Experience with adult education a plus |
• | Valid drivers license |
Physical Requirements: |
Performing an inspection involves extensive navigation in and around the building, attic and site, as well as climbing ladders. Therefore, a Program Manager must possess some physical dexterity, endurance, and balance to safely and effectively accomplish this work. |
Supervisory Responsibilities: |
Supervision of interns and staff aiding the programs’ scopes of work. |
Hours of Work |
Monday through Friday 9:00AM—5:00PM generally, with flexible options. Occasional weekend or evening hours. Frequent travel required. |
