ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Dune Restoration Specialist will work as part of a 5-10 person crew to implement invasive species removal and dune restoration at sites located along the Lake Michigan shoreline in the Northwest Lower Peninsula of Michigan. S/he will work with volunteers, other TNC employees, The Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy (GTRLC), The Leelenau Conservancy (TLC), Michigan DNR, and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (SLBE) to assist with dune and shoreline restoration.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma and 6 months of related experience. - Experience operating various types of equipment. - Experience performing physical work.
ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION
- Familiarity with Michigan flora and fauna helpful. - Experience with GPS, topographic, and aerial photos helpful. - Good interpersonal skills. Ability to get along in a group setting. - Ability to work without direct day-to-day supervision. -Ability to obtain State Commercial Pesticide Applicators license.
*This position is for three months and will start in mid May and end in mid August*
