Responsible to Fundraising and Development Manager Contract 6 month fixed term contract with the possibility of extension Salary £18,815 per annum pro rata (15 hours per week) Plus 10% commission on active members after 6 months Plus 2.5% commission on active members after 24 and 48 months Hours 15 hours a week with seasonal variations / This post requires regular early evening and weekend work Location Variable across the Birmingham and Black Country area Minimum monthly attendance at Wildlife Trust Head Office for meetings and training: Centre of the Earth, 42 Norman Street, Winson Green, Birmingham, B18 7EP Purpose of the Post We have exciting and ambitious plans to develop The Wildlife Trust for Birmingham and the Black Country to help wildlife and engage more people with nature. The Trust currently has over 3000 memberships whose contributions help to fund the Trust’s work. This post is crucial in supporting our plans for membership growth and long-term retention. The Door-to-Door Membership Recruiter’s role is to promote wild places within Birmingham and the Black Country, raise the profile of The Trust and grow our supporter base by recruiting new members in the area. The successful candidate will have a polite, professional and approachable nature helping to ensure that our members feel that we are an organisation worthy of their support so they remain long term supporters, pledging as much as they can. The role gives the successful candidate flexibility to agree their hours of work, and develop an individual sales technique provided that membership recruitment targets are met. Hours of work will typically be within the early evening for Door-to-Door recruitment with occasional face-to-face recruitment at other times. Background Our vision is for Birmingham and the Black Country to have more wildlife, more wild places and more people with a strong connection to the natural world. We manage our own nature reserves to a high standard and work in partnership with others to create and enhance wildlife habitats locally. As lead partner of the Birmingham and Black Country Nature Improvement Area since 2012 the Wildlife Trust has worked with our many partners and more than 2,000 volunteers to improve over 100 sites for people and wildlife. Our approach of working with local community groups in areas of public open space has seen over 40 new meadows created, 103 hectares of woodland enhanced and many kilometres of watercourse restored. The recruiter will have an individual recruitment target per calendar month in support of the Trust’s annual recruitment target. Comprehensive training, the necessary resources and materials plus a mobile phone will be provided. Travel around the Birmingham and Black Country area will be required therefore access to own vehicle may be advantageous. You are required to have insurance to cover business use for use of own vehicle and a mileage allowance will be payable for such journeys. A Basic DBS check may be required for this role Person Specification There is no one set of qualifications or experiences that make an ideal post-holder as full training is given.

General Terms and Conditions
Salary £18,815 per annum (pro rata) Pension The Trust contributes a generous 7% to an employee pension scheme. Full details will be provided.
Hours of Work 15 hours per week. Regular evening and weekend work required. Overtime is not paid but time off in lieu may be taken where appropriate.
Duration of post 6-month fixed term contract with possibility of extension All new employees undertake a probationary period of 6 months; in which time they are expected to demonstrate their suitability for the post.
Holidays Pro rata: 25 days’ annual leave (including 3 to be taken over Christmas and New Year), plus statutory public holidays.
