The International Crane Foundation invites applications for the position of Donor Relations Manager.

Background: The International Crane Foundation (ICF) works worldwide to conserve cranes and the wetland, grassland and other ecosystems on which they depend. Under the flagship of these celebrated, charismatic birds, ICF brings diverse people and nations together to solve problems of significance for wildlife and humans. ICF’s conservation activities include protecting important crane habitats by establishing or strengthening protected areas, securing freshwater inflows through sustainable water management to maintain healthy wetlands, restoring damaged ecosystems, reintroducing rare crane populations, linking poverty alleviation with conservation, and working with local landowners and communities to solve issues such as crop damage. With programs in over 20 countries, ICF’s world headquarters is in Baraboo, Wisconsin where educational programs feature live bird displays for all 15 species of cranes.


Position summary:
 ICF seeks a Donor Relations Manager to help steward and grow support from more than 8,000 members and assist donors in their involvement with the work of ICF. This individual works in close coordination with the Development Team to manage the functions listed below and help achieve the annual, planned, capital and special project fund raising goals of ICF. The position is based on our 220-acre Baraboo campus, set among beautiful restored prairie and woodland.


Position responsibilities:

• Assists in creation of, and implements, annual giving strategies to promote membership retention and growth;

• Employs fundraising database (Raiser’s Edge 7) to track and record donor and program activity, maintain lists, perform queries, generate reports and track performance;

• Liaises with program staff to articulate current conservation programs and accomplishments for member/donor communications; 

• Coordinates, writes and designs electronic and print materials for member/donor correspondence, including periodic member appeals and direct mail campaigns;

• Conducts research to help inform work with major donors;

• Leads ICF tours and conducts meetings with members to build long-term relationships and strengthen support for ICF;

• Coordinates with Communication and Education Department to manage ICF visitor activities, website and other electronic communications and charitable giving tools;

• Coordinates regular membership mailings with support staff;

• Serves as point person for periodic member/donor events; and

• Assists with related projects as needed.


Required:
 The successful candidate will have:

• An undergraduate degree or higher

• Three years experience working in development or a related field

• Excellent writing, communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

• Ability to work occasional long hours, over weekends and with travel
