Description

The Operations Director works with the Divisional Vice President to ensure effective and efficient management of the division’s business planning and operational processes. In this capacity the Operations Director defines strategies; clarifies roles; assesses operations performance of programs; and takes steps to address and remedy areas of concern. The incumbent will guide programs developing and implementing sustainable funding strategies, setting standards related to operational and financial management, ensuring that human and financial resources are aligned and maximized for the greatest conservation impact. The position reports directly to the Divisional Vice President and indirectly to the Senior Operations Leader, Programs & Science.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensures country program compliance with policies, laws & standards
  • Ensures proper use and application of CI systems and processes
  • Manages divisional budget, reporting and financial compliance of large cross-cutting agreements
  • At the divisional level, analyzes spending, monitors financial risks and oversees budget and long range financial plan (LRFP) preparation. 
  • Identifies financial contingencies and assist in their resolution.
  • Identifies, resolves or escalates issues of high risk
  • Helps managers address complex performance and financial issues
  • Leads staffing and organizational structure efforts
  • Serves as field advocate by facilitating feedback from field staff on policies and procedures
  • Develops capacity building plans
  • Ensures follow up to & implementation of capacity building plans
  • Identifies needs and participate in training of operations and program staff
  • Supports program/system roll-outs
  • Participates in hiring and reviewing of key divisional staff
  • Fills operational gaps at the Country level (long- or short-term)
  • Builds and maintains divisional Operations Networks
Working Conditions:
  • This position will have to travel between 25-35% of its time
  • Skill to build relations and lead multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree/8-10 years experience.

Required Skills:
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
