Dive Officer

Summary: Shallow Waters is a marine conservation NGO working toward a community-led coral reef management programme in the Koh Sdach archipelago, Cambodia.  As part of our commitment in the region, Shallow Waters is seeking a Dive Officer (DO) to manage their clients diving activities within a marine conservation framework.

Roles & Responsibilities: The DO’s primary role is to manage all diving and boating activities at our base by providing a smooth and safe day-to-day running of the diving centre. 

Minimum Requirement: The successful candidate will be qualified to a minimum of PADI OWSI & EFR Instructor with experience of certifying students (20 certs minimum). S/He has a keen interest in marine biology and conservation with an enthusiasm for learning and implementing research methodologies and community-based conservation activities.

Personal Specification: The right candidate must have good physical fitness and be experienced in working in remote areas. The DO is independent and will be expected to work long hours within a small team environment both living and working together, and will be able to liaise with customers and volunteers in a friendly, effective and diplomatic manner. Personal qualities relevant to this role include good communication skills, leadership, interpersonal skills, initiative, resilience, creativity and the ability to anticipate problems and find appropriate solutions.
