Young Greens are the youth and student branch of the Green Party. We aim to harness the energy and ideas of young people, and change the direction of our society towards a sustainable and just future. We believe that our political system must be changed from the inside as well as by wider society.
We exist to combine the principled actions and campaigning we see in our communities with electoral politics We aim to represent the values that have disappeared from politics and left people disillusioned. We organise within and beyond the Green Party in the interests of young people.
We are autonomous from the Green Party but believe it is the best place to work for genuine, lasting political change. We aim to empower young people to get involved in politics and change the world.
Young Greens members connect and interact through Local Groups. This could range from meeting up socially to discuss your favourite topics, to setting up talks or actions, getting involved in national campaigns on fees, cuts and housing, writing articles for the Young Greens website or a local paper, linking to your local Green Party to help with election campaigns, or almost anything that fires your imagination...
National Young Greens events and the twice-yearly Green Party Conference provide opportunities for the national Young Greens network to meet up and share ideas. TheYoung Greens Committee runs the national organisation, and throughout the year the Committee and our paid National Coordinator are there to support local groups with materials, advice, administrative help and anything else groups request.
Our Annual Convention is where members from across England and Wales come together for training, workshops, inspiring speakers and set the priorities for the network for the coming year, including electing the National Committee.
Depending on where you live, your local Young Greens group may be at varying stages of development. But as more people get involved, we will put them in touch with each other.
This website will give you a feel of what Young Greens are achieving across the country. Please keep us up to date with your local group and feel free to send us any material for inclusion on the site.
