Never before have such major environmental issues as water, energy, drought, climate change, urbanisation, fires and biodiversity loss, been so prominent in Australia and internationally as they are now. Addressing these issues demands an approach that cuts across the traditional disciplinary divides between the humanities, the social sciences and the natural sciences. The Fenner School does just that, hosting research and presenting education programs drawing on geography, history, political science, ecology, forestry, hydrology, mathematics and more. With over 50 academic staff, more than a hundred PhD students and a full complement of support staff and services, the School is a major focus for integrated environmental research and training. Through links to other ANU schools, external research organisations and the wider policy community, we bring a powerful array of skills and perspectives to bear on existing and emerging challenges. Our coursework education programs at undergraduate and graduate level are all designed to produce the vitally needed next generation of researchers and professionals Whether you are interested in studying at the Fenner School, joining us as a research colleague, learning more about the relevance of our work for policy and management, or simply curious about the great environment and sustainability issues of our times, the information on these pages should help you learn more about what we do, how we do it, and how you can become involved. |
