Our mission is to promote human and wildlife well-being in Africa through research and education on conservation and sustainable management of natural resources.

We aim to bridge the gap between the academic world and the wildlife industry on the ground by using research to fill in the gaps of a sound theoretical basis and then translating this into useable information and tools for wildlife managers, local farmers and conservationists. Moreover, we realize the importance of local expert knowledge and actively network with people working in the field to capture their experiences. We use existing game reserves as models to research the functioning of ecological processes, and the sustainability of natural resources under current management practices as well as for subsequent incorporation of improved management strategies identified by our research findings.

After testing our predictions in various settings, universal principles and successful strategies are made available for application at a broader scale. This, together with the assimilation and translation of knowledge gained from other research projects, local experts and literature, form the basis of our education program on natural resource management.
