Summary of department:
IIED is a leading policy-research institute in the field of sustainable development. We work internationally through long-term engagement with partners around the world to make sustainable development a reality, particularly for the world’s poor. We are looking to recruit an administrator to provide high quality support to the Director of IIED and the Executive Assistant in all aspects of their work ranging from external affairs and representation, to fundraising, strategy and management.
Summary of role:

This is a great opportunity for a personal assistant with experience working in a busy office and an interest in sustainable development issues to professionally develop in a multicultural, dynamic environment. Key responsibilities will include organising the Director’s diary, meetings and travel arrangements and providing administrative and logistical support to the International Board of Trustees and sub committees. Researching and collating background information, preparing and formatting documents, reports and presentations are other important aspects to the job.

With a first degree or equivalent level of education, the successful candidate will have outstanding verbal communication and interpersonal skills to deal with a variety of partners from grassroots to high-level officials in the UK and abroad, multicultural staff, external bodies and the general public. He or she will have excellent organisational skills to prioritise tasks without close supervision, cope with pressure, and be adaptable and flexible in a challenging environment. First-class written English and IT skills are also essential requirements while knowledge of one or more international languages is desirable. More information on the post’s key responsibilities and person specification can be found in the job description.

IIED aims to be an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all areas of the community. However, this post does not meet the minimum requirements for work permit employment; we can therefore only accept applications from those who can prove their eligibility to work in the UK.

How to apply:
