A leading UAE government entity is looking to appoint a new Divisional Director for their Terrestrial Biodiversity function. The new appointee will assume overall responsibility for leading the department and its biodiversity research, conservation and development programs, whilst also acting as the lead internal advisor on terrestrial biodiversity conservation. The terrestrial team works alongside the marine biodiversity team - hence applications from marine scientists will not be accepted for this role. It is essential that applicants for the role must be able to balance the responsibilities of defining the general working plan and strategy of the terrestrial biodiversity unit, with the ability to provides technical input to programs & identification of research needs for terrestrial biodiversity. Applicants are expected to possess either a Ph. D or M.Sc degree in a directly applicable field, with a minimum of 10 years practical experience in terrestrial biodiversity / environmental management. Direct experience of at least 7 years in leading terrestrial biodiversity or wildlife departments or institutions is expected. Personal experience of living and working in the region is desirable. If this is not possible applicants must have significant experience of working within a highly regulated legal framework. The applicant profile should demonstrate exposure to a combination of technical, scientific, project management, communication and training skills Fluency in arabic is advantageous
