As the largest crystalline silicon photovoltaic solar module manufacturer in the world, Suntech is a rapidly growing organization. We have an exciting opportunity for an Director of Supply Chain to work in our San Francisco, California headquarters.
The Director of the Supply Chain leads the activities for Inbound, Outbound, and Shipping to meet/exceed customer service level requirements. The Director is responsible for accurate and timely processing of inventory throughout the facility and documentation of product flow for all serviced divisions. This role ensures continuous improvement through pro-active leadership and development of direct reports and is responsible for running a cost effective operation staying within budgetary guidelines.
Essential Job Functions:
- Regularly interacts with the field to understand and meet/exceed service requirements
- Leads the team in all aspects of inventory planning, logistics, forecasting and service level agreements.
- Oversee production control, contract negotiation, purchasing
- Communicates effectively with corporate
- Manages procurement systems and process, demand flow, Lean, JIT
- Oversee supplier stocking programs, consignment inventory programs, VMI, daily replenishment programs, and 3PL inbound logistics.
- Directs team to establish priorities and ensure proper execution
- Maintains open communication with all levels of management
- Manages within budget and on time.
- Implements Strategic Initiatives that focus on meeting growing business needs
- Focuses on continuous service and cost improvement
- Provides strategic direction to managers and supervisors for anticipating staffing requirements
- Ensures overall operation at maximum standards for production, quality, and attendance
- Directs the procedures for calculating the financial inventory on a monthly basis
- Responsible overseeing and managing the overall physical inventories in the distribution centers
- Manage Inventory reduction and reduced cost exposure
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors degree required
- MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred
- Minimum 5 years supply chain management experience required
- APICS Certification
- Knowledge and experience of distribution operating systems, logistics and forecasting
- Ability to develop strategies to improve inventory turnover while supporting customer service objectives
- Strong leadership and motivational ability
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
- Ability to develop and manage operating and capital budgets
- Strong time management skills
- Knowledge and experience using various computer systems
- Experience with development and use of variable budgets; familiar with basic accounting principles
