The Director of Strategic Sourcing and Procurement is responsible for the development and implementation of the procurement strategy for CAPEX, indirect and OPEX spending. The Director will provide leadership and manage procurement services for major capital projects; lead the operational procurement function responsible for the acquisition of goods and services; provide direction and management of the procurement system, order management and cost reduction initiatives, and oversee critical supply chain support functions such as spend analysis and vendor selection and qualification. He/she will play a key role in strategic planning and be both strategically and tactically instrumental in the realization of Solaria’s cost and revenue goals.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop, implement and deliver key operational procurement metrics inclusive of internal performance metrics and supply partner performance metrics.
  • Develop and drive CAPEX spend strategy
  • Develop and manage RFx process
  • Analyze market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability, prepare and present market analysis reports, and implement strategies to mitigate risk
  • Identify, develop, and manage strategic business relationships and gain a comprehensive understanding of business requirements
  • Lead, manage, train, coach, mentor, appraise and develop the procurement operations professional staff.
  • Deliver day to day operational performance of order management system and processes, meet internal customer requirements and corporate cost reduction initiatives
  • Lead TCO reduction initiatives, develop and present spend analysis, and provide project management for key initiatives.
  • Develop and meet procurement objectives in support of Corporate Vision and Objectives.
  • Lead vendor management programs and deliver performance metrics for suppliers and conducts scorecard sessions.
  • Vigorously lead efforts in meeting location requirements from an internal customer service perspective, fulfilling P.O. requirements.
  • Evaluate and revise, as necessary, current procurement processes/policies in support of organizational initiatives.
  • Manage, lead and recommend changes for procurement operations programs and workflow.
  • Develop, negotiate and execute Master Supply Agreements and other key supplier agreements/contracts, and perform role of point person with Strategic and Major Suppliers
  • Establish a best-in-industry commodity management function within the procurement group

Experience amd Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree required, MBA or an advanced degree in operations preferred
  • 10+ years of Operations, Procurement, and Supply Chain experience for a mid-size to large manufacturing organization. (more than $200 million in controllable spend), with experience in silicon wafer and/or cell procurement highly preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in a senior management role in a procurement organization
  • Asia-Pacific procurement experience required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including fluency in English required. Mandarin or Japanese language skills a plus.
  • Strong understanding of how the various modules of an ERP work together (item master, sales orders, purchase orders, deliveries etc). (Participation in ERP architecting and implementing a plus.)
  • Expert understanding and experience with multi-step strategic sourcing processes and strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to forge high-level, productive business relationships with top executives at suppliers and with industry peers
  • Demonstrated experience with procurement service metrics meeting needs of internal and external clients.
  • Experience with organizational learning and the planning/development of programs for procurement professionals.
  • Demonstrated expert-level financial, quantitative, and analytical skills and the ability to manage cross functional teams.
  • Proven experience in contract negotiation and administration, for contracts exceeding $1 million.
  • Experience in inventory management, materials management and materials planning/forecasting.
  • Experience with vendor risk management processes and policy development, as well as broad experience across various supply chain functions including operations, procurement and planning.
  • Demonstrated project management skills with deliverable results supporting overall goal achievement.
  • Experience managing a team of professionals.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint (MS Office Suite) and working experience with SalesForce.com and MS Project
  • Lean Six Sigma knowledge or other process improvement methodologies experience preferred
  • Passion for solar is always a plus

International travel up to 30% is required.
