USGBC seeks a Director of Relationship Management to manage the work of the Relationship Management staff. This position will initiate, coordinate and maintain strategic relationships with key industry organizations and partners to advance the USGBC’s Mission of market transformation. The Director will work to ensure that all partnerships contribute to the quality and relevance of USGBC offerings, advance the USGBC’s mission, goals and yield the maximum benefit for all parties.
Specific Responsibilities Include
- Manage the work of the Relationship Management Department to strategically and diplomatically recruit stakeholders based on USGBC/GBCI needs
- Establish and maintain relationships with USGBC member companies and other industry organizations after they are recruited
- Coordinate the work of the department
- Coordinate department activities and follow-up with Senior Staff, CEO and COO contacts and relationships
- Participate in departmental business planning, budgeting, performance tracking and reporting efforts
- Represent USGBC/GBCI in the media and at industry conferences, meetings, and presentations
Employee Supervision
- This position will supervise approximately six junior to mid-level employees
Travel Requirements
- Up to 30% travel may be required to build relations and secure sales with targeted audiences
Education and Training Requirements/Preferences
- Bachelors degree (Masters preferred) in relevant field with preference for degree in a related building industry, environmental policy/economics or sustainable business discipline
- Solid technical understanding of LEED rating system (LEED AP with specialty preferred)
Experience Requirements
- Minimum five years relevant professional experience required; experience strongly preferred working in senior-level management in a public benefit, environmental or for profit organization supervising employees serving as sales, account, engagement, and/or relationship managers
- Demonstrated experience soft selling up within an organizational hierarchy (preferred) of products and services

- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office suite and LEED Online (preferred)
- LEED Green Associate Credential preferred
- Strong leadership and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail
- Ability to understand new customers’ business, including end users and service/product providers
