Job Title: Director, Online Fundraising Reports To: Director, Digital Engagement Department: Office of Advancement Supervises: Business Partnerships Marketing Coordinator Job Description: The Director, Online Fundraising is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive online fundraising strategy including internal and external promotion, content creation, design development and implementation, and on-line partnership building. Reporting to the Director, Digital Engagement and working closely with Digital Strategies, Communications, Advancement and Sierra Club’s online fundraising consultants, this individual will oversee and execute new and existing marketing and fundraising efforts being carried out online. Working to integrate execution and analysis of Club direct mail and phone channels with online fundraising programs is critical. Scope: The Director, Online Fundraising is responsible for planning all national digital fundraising efforts and providing the creative and tactical skills necessary to make the online fundraising program a success. This position will also interact with Conservation, Digital Strategies and the Sierra Club Foundation and will require a team player who can orchestrate ideas from others, organizing multiple viewpoints and priorities into cohesive direction. The Director will also oversee the technical aspects of monitoring, managing, and controlling the day-to-day operations of the online fundraising program and the systems that support it, as well as monitoring analytics and performance of online programs. Job Activities:
Seasonal Activities Heavier seasonal workloads may occur as a result of project deadlines, staff absences and vacancies, and during peak activity periods. Occasional weekend and/or evening work may be required. Knowledge & Skills: -- Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of professional work experience developing and implementing online fundraising programs in a large, non-profit setting. -- Demonstrated track record of successful online fundraising in an environment of similar complexity. -- Strong analytical skills and the ability to make data driven decisions that lead to innovative approaches for developing online fundraising programs. -- Experience collaborating with others in a complex, dynamic organizational environment. Ability to develop trust and strong collaborative working relationships. -- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write and speak clearly and effectively, with excellent listening skills. -- Self-starter with an entrepreneurial and creative approach to problem-solving, and the ability to take advantage of emerging opportunities and trends. -- Individual with high energy level, self-confidence and a positive “can-do” attitude are essential. -- Hands-on approach to online program management and execution. -- Excellent project management skills. Ability to manage numerous concurrent and developing projects. -- Strong tech skills and experience that ideally include an understanding of: large-scale database management; nonprofit constituency relationship management systems (i.e. Convio); and web-application development processes. -- Experience working with Google Adwords, Google Keywords and Google Analytics. -- Experience with commercial consumer marketing a plus. -- Passion for and commitment to the Sierra Club mission.
