Title: Director of Talent Acquisition and Development

Reports to: Director of Human Resources

Supervises: Talent Recruitment Specialist, Human Resources Coordinator

Context: Develops strategies and resources to ensure the recruitment, retention and development of a highly competent, effective and motivated staff. Guides and supports the management team in staff planning, job design, succession and individual career advancement planning.

Scope: Partners with managers throughout the organization to define talent needs and develop workforce plans. Identifies and establishes effective recruiting resources and techniques. Participates with the Director of Human Resources, Director of Employee Relations and other management in the development of HR strategies and programs that enhance employee job satisfaction, productivity, career advancement and retention. Creates recruitment and retention strategies that advance the Club’s workforce diversity objectives.

Job Activities:

1. Works closely with managers throughout the Club to plan for staffing needs, create efficient staffing structures and position content.

2. Develops effective talent recruitment strategies and sources. Establishes internal tracking systems for talent pools, manages all external advertising, vendor relationships and other forms of talent recruitment activities. Monitors and evaluates the performance of recruiting strategies and sources. Ensures the most cost-effective use of vendors and services. Develops relationships with high performing individuals in other organizations.

3. Evaluates candidates and makes appropriate recommendations to hiring managers.

4. Oversees all aspects of candidate referencing and background checks. Ensures compliance with union contracts regarding hiring procedures and practices.

5. Identifies and tracks internal talent, guides managers to establish career development paths and succession plans.

6. Creates and establishes systems, practices and programs to ensure that new-hires are successfully on-boarded.

7. Establishes and manages systems to record job description and talent tracking information.

8. Participates in the development and presentation of training programs for managers in talent selection and management skills.

9. Travels to other locations as needed.

10. Performs miscellaneous projects and duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

B.A. degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Development or a closely related field, or the equivalent combination of experience and education.

5+ years prior experience in the management of staff planning and recruitment.

Current knowledge of employment related laws and regulations. Excellent communication and writing skills

Excellent interpersonal skills and judgment. Ability to gain understanding and cooperation across all areas of the organization.

Prior experience developing and conducting management training programs.

Strong service orientation.
