Position Description

The role of the Director of Origination is to originate and close power and renewable energy credit off-take contracts for Community Energy’s development pipeline of solar and wind projects in target markets nationally.  The role requires a high level of commercial and industry expertise to structure first-in-the-market agreements as well as customary arrangements that work for the utility or other long-term players and for project finance.  The candidate must be a self-starter and ready to make an immediate impact with a proven track record of sourcing and closing multiple transactions to commercial standards. The role includes developing and maintaining relationships with customers while predicting and responding to market opportunities.  The employee will be responsible for deal functions including structuring product offerings, delivery arrangements, contract negotiations, and contract administration.  The selected candidate will work fluidly with multiple members of the management team to achieve and manage company growth.  Specific accountabilities will include, but not limited to, the following:

• Execution of business plan by delivery of commercial off-take arrangements
• Sourcing off-take opportunities for projects
• Respond to RFPs for PPA or REC contracts
• Structuring and negotiating off-take agreements, and coordinating the delivery
• Providing expertise on market issues impacting customers and projects
• Understand intricate legal and regulatory concepts and apply them to complex factual situations
• Create a team atmosphere for each transaction and project

Required Education, Skills and Abilities

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Finance, Business or related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience
• 5 + years experience in renewable power trading and/or origination
• Able to review and understand project models
• Ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization in an open office setting and a highly collaborative environment
