Primary Purpose of the Position: The Director of Online Fundraising is primarily responsible for raising unrestricted revenue from NPCA members and the general public through the use of digital tools. S/he will lead the Digital Outreach Team and ensure that online fundraising is integrated with other fundraising channels and with the advocacy goals of NPCA. S/he will supervise staff directly, collaborate with peers, and manage teams to achieve NPCA’s digital goals. The Director will guide strategy and implement tactics to achieve budget goals.
 
Essential Functions:                                                                                          % of Time
  • Develop and execute fundraising strategies to produce increased revenue from online sources, including email, web, mobile, social networks and emerging opportunities. In collaboration with direct marketing staff and consultants, prepare budgets and develop projections for digital fundraising. Provide strategic and creative input to leverage digital opportunities within the integrated direct marketing program. Regularly review performance of initiatives and adjust strategies as necessary. 60%
  • Lead and direct the Digital Outreach team, ensuring tight collaboration among staff and integrated message strategies for fundraising, advocacy, and marketing. Supervise the Senior Coordinator of Member Engagement. 25%
  • Maintain knowledge of successful and emerging digital opportunities and provide thought leadership on building engagement strategies to increase revenue. Evaluate new technologies, vendors, and systems as appropriate. Represent the Association at conferences and within professional networks. 10%
  • Maintain solid working knowledge of and ability to utilize Convio and Team Approach databases, including data sync procedures and other business rules, constituent selection criteria, and data analysis. 5%

Minimum Work Schedule: Core working hours are Mon-Fri, 9:00-5:00; hours are flexible and telecommuting is an option, subject to supervisor’s approval. Evening and weekend hours are sometimes necessary. Occasional travel will be required for trainings, retreats, and conferences.
 
Minimum Scope of Position: Interacts with senior staff, peers, and subordinates to achieve goals. Works with consultants and service providers to manage terms of contracts and execute strategies.
 
Minimum Qualifications, Competencies, Skills, Education, and Traits: Five years’ experience in multi-channel fundraising or digital innovations in support of fundraising. Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or related field preferred. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office. Solid working knowledge of CRM platforms, social networks, mobile applications, and relational databases, with preference given to candidates familiar with Convio and/or Team Approach. Demonstrated ability to secure charitable gifts from individuals. Solid working knowledge of direct response fundraising. Demonstrated strategic thinking, budgeting, and analytical skills. Excellent communications skills and demonstrated ability to lead collaborative teams. Proven ability to meet deadlines and budget goals.
