Job Information |
This position will ensure Real Goods Solar has the appropriate procurement policies, procedures and processes in place to ensure goods, services and assets are sourced and procured in a manner that supports the business requirements for all of the company’s business units. This mandate includes procuring all the necessary materials and services in a most timely, cost effective, and high quality fashion. This position will also be responsible for defining inventory management policies and ensuring adequate controls for accurate deployment and reporting of inventory levels in support of the financial and audit requirements. Lastly, the position will ensure development and deployment of appropriate logistics processes and systems to ensure efficient and cost effective delivery of material to the point of use. Key Responsibilities:
- Plans, controls and coordinates all purchase negotiations, buying, vendor management, and expediting deliveries if needed. Plans and controls product availability and is responsible for inventory and customer service levels.
- Establish/develop procurement policies and procedures and ensure they are implemented consistently
- Develop and maximize RGS purchasing power to reduce cost across the Company’s lines of business
- Ensure effective inventory management systems
- Train and develop regional procurement personnel, including commercial Project Managers
- Assist in preparation and implementation of the Procurement Plan for large projects
- Continually improves inventory deliveries to achieve cash flow objectives
- Works very closely and collaboratively with operations to plan and manage production schedules to optimize inventory and customer service levels
- Evaluate alternative sourcing agreements to minimize inventory levels
- Directly work with suppliers to establish the best payment terms possible
- Assists in coordination of strategic bids for strategic customers
- Gathers and effectively communicates market intelligence to executive management team; establishes the proper and collaborative team environment to ensure there is a strong customer focus in all activities of the department at all times
- Develops and manages procurement operating budgets while monitoring and controlling expenditures to meet budgetary requirements
Essential Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive materials, procurement, and logistics management experience. International experience will be a significant asset.
- Bachelors in business-related field required and MBA is strongly preferred
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage high-priority, high-visibility tasks with poise and professionalism; ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical skills with ability to analyze and synthesize raw data to provide visibility regarding total spend and opportunities for improved performance
- Demonstrated success facilitating and influencing positive change with internal business partners; must have a strong customer service orientation and high business and financial acumen
- Financial literacy to manage P&L, Balance Sheet, and cash flow
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint with familiarity with ERP systems
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills and a proven track record in working effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Must be a strategic thinker, highly analytical, good problem solving skills and comfortable with assessing market/business opportunities
