Description

We seek a Director of Global Outreach and Engagement to expand the user base of the Biodiversity Indicators Dashboard, an interactive, user-friendly tool that provides analysis, visualization, and communication of data on biodiversity status and trends at multiple spatial scales, across the international biodiversity community. The position will interact with the biodiversity indicator user and producer communities, develop relationships with relevant international agencies (such as the Convention on Biological Diversity) and national governments. It will develop relationships with targeted agencies and efforts where the Dashboard is poised to provide significant benefits where the Dashboard could aid in meeting reporting requirements by signatory countries that must produce National Reports and National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plans, develop funding streams by cultivating adoption of the Dashboard as a biodiversity information service for targeted organizations, and strategically develop and pursue opportunities to build off the existing platform to create customized Dashboards for organizations or large-scale projects with indicator visualization and communication needs.

Entrance requirements include an advanced degree or equivalent experience in biodiversity science or policy, a solid understanding of international biodiversity policy; an extensive network of contacts in both international biodiversity agencies and national government agencies responsible for biodiversity management; and outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Candidates should have a proven track record of leading on and contributing to successful funding proposals, a passionate commitment to biodiversity conservation, the ability to collaborate respectfully and effectively with team members and colleagues from other institutions from diverse backgrounds and possessing disparate skill sets, and the flexibility to travel globally and for extended periods. Multilingual, especially Spanish-speaking, candidates are preferred.

The successful candidate will either work from the UN Environment World Conservation Monitoring Centre in Cambridge, UK; NatureServe’s home office located in Arlington, Virginia, USA; or elsewhere if justified.
