Our client, FOUR PAWS, is an international animal welfare organisation with headquarters in Vienna, Austria, and has offices in more than 10 other countries. Founded in 1988, the organisation pleads for animal welfare through sustainable campaigns and projects. FOUR PAWS focuses on animals that are directly under human influence, for example stray dogs and stray cats, laboratory animals, farm animals, wild animals and companion animals kept in inappropriate housing.

DIRECTOR OF DISASTER RELIEF UNIT (m/f)

Fulltime, Location: Vienna

The Director of Disaster Relief runs international high-quality Disaster Relief operations for FOUR PAWS in priority regions for animals in need, including the support of the design and implementation of Disaster Relief operation strategies, the planning of targets, the development of evaluation and measurement tools as well as the communication concept.

Your tasks:

• Building up a new department with regards to a 3-years-plan including department structure, team recruiting, process definition and monitoring systems implementation in order to react quickly and high professional in Disaster Relief operations
• Coordination and responsibility for the department budget
• Developing and implementing a permanent monitoring system for disasters and other emergencies which require fast help for animals in need
• Establishing and nurturing external high-level international contacts and partnerships, e. g. United Nations, international NGOs acting in the field of Disaster Relief
• Leading, managing, developing and permanent inspiring the whole team of Disaster Relief trained staff
• Planning, implementing and evaluation of operations
• Initiating, organizing and actively supporting the cultural change towards disaster relief as core topic for FOUR PAWS

Your profil:

• Multi-years’ field experience in the participation of disaster relief operations, preferrable in the field of animal welfare
• Proven strategic planning,organisation and implementation of operations, including team management and reporting skills
• Excellent communication skills in English and good German (written and oral) required
  - ideally one more language as an advantage
• High degree of flexibility and a willingness to travel internationally
• Proficient in dealing with different cultures
• Dedication and passion for animal welfare and FOUR PAWS values and issues
