Ducks Unlimited, Inc., the continent’s leader in waterfowl and wetlands conservation, seeks a major gift fundraiser for the Western region, based in Sacramento, California. The chosen candidate will provide strategic direction and leadership for the development efforts in a three-state region (N. CA, NV and UT) and is responsible for identifying, cultivating and soliciting major gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations to support the conservation mission of Ducks Unlimited. The chosen individual will work closely with volunteers as well as conservation and development colleagues on initiatives and proposals for assigned prospects.

The ideal candidate will have fundraising experience with an emphasis on personal solicitation and a strong conservation ethic. Additional qualifications include a college degree, extensive interpersonal, relationship and team building skills, oral and written communication skills, ability to provide leadership and guidance to other development professionals and volunteers, computer literacy with a proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and database programs, and a desire and ability to travel. Familiarity or experience with planned giving, an advanced degree or CFRE designation, a working knowledge of the region’s philanthropic community, and an interest in outdoor conservation activities are also desired.
