DUTIES: The Director of Development guides the President and the Board, especially the Institutional Advancement Committee, in defining and implementing objectives to significantly increase annual operating and endowment funding. Responsible for all aspects of fundraising, including expansion of the Aldo Leopold Society, foundation giving, and the membership program, as well as the creation of an annual fund raising event. Supervises Senior Development Assoicate, who manages development and membership events, Board meetings, and various cultivation parties. Also supervises a part-time database specialist and is responsible for the integrity of the database system. The Director works closely with the President, the Board, and senior staff.

BACKGROUND: The successful candidate will have a minimum of 8 years as a fundraising professional in successively higher roles of responsibility. Must be able to work harmoniously in a team-based organization. A generalist who is accomplished in all aspects of fundraising including a proven track record of soliciting and increasing donations from regional donors and foundations. Imaginative, organized leader with a lively intellect who is able to produce under pressure and work on several projects at a time. Superb communication skills, especially written, with strong proposal writing experience. Personnel and financial management experience with excellent analytical skills. Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency required; Raiser's Edge experience preferred. Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.
