Community Support Volunteers was established in 1962 to involve people in service to the community and to promote social action. We need an energetic and experienced campaigner to lead and develop its community based environment work on the retirement of Mike Williams in April 2009. CSV Environment's aim is to deliver opportunities to involve people with little or no environmental volunteering experience in improving the areas they live in.
You will ensure strategic aims of the organisation are met, and provide leadership in developing a successful, viable and relevant operation. You will line manage senior and support staff, have overall responsibility for all aspects of financial control, network and develop links with partner organisations on a national level, attract new resources and income streams, promote the work through public speaking, promotions and campaigns, and also maintain working relationship with other CSV divisions. To succeed in this role, you must have experience in leading volunteers, involving local citizens in volunteering activities, partnering community organisations, spearheading campaigns and negotiating partnership and contracts with public and private funders. Knowledge of healthy lifestyle, outdoor play, recycling, broad public policy context and innovating approaches to local environment involvement are desirable.
