Ducks Unlimited, the world’s leader in wetland and waterfowl conservation, is seeking qualified candidates for the Director of Conservation Programs position headquartered in Annapolis, MD. Ducks Unlimited delivers its conservation programs as a part of a comprehensive conservation program that is continental in scope. This position is responsible for providing the leadership and administrative oversight for Ducks Unlimited conservation programs on a regional level. The incumbent will lead a team responsible for protecting, conserving, enhancing, and restoring wetlands and associated habitats in the North and Mid-Atlantic Region, referred to as Region 6.

We are seeking an individual with proven abilities in team leadership, strategic implementation, programmatic fundraising, and partnership development to help lead implementation and growth within the North and Mid-Atlantic Region.

A minimum of 10 years of progressively more responsible work experience in DU or other organizations and advanced training/degree(s) in conservation, engineering or other specialized areas are required; such as ecology, wildlife management or environmental science. A master’s degree is preferred. Candidates must have excellent communication skills and be able to work independently and as a member of a diverse team. Candidates should have experience in conservation, fundraising, volunteer and agency relationship building.

Duties will include providing vision, leadership and team building for implementing Ducks Unlimited’s exciting programs in the North and Mid-Atlantic Region; supervising conservation managers and developing/overseeing annual budgets; providing leadership for increasing major gift fundraising efforts in coordination with fundraising staff; developing new and managing existing relationships with state, private, and agency partners; assisting in public policy initiatives and issues in the North and Mid-Atlantic Region, developing a communications strategy, and working with the Great Lakes/Atlantic Regional Office director and others on regional planning and fundraising.

The incumbent will report directly to the Director of Operations, Great Lakes/Atlantic Region.

Ducks Unlimited’s mission is to conserve, restore and manage wetlands and associated habitats for North America’s waterfowl. These habitats also benefit other wildlife and people.
