Description

Director of Communications

c. £60,000
Flexible location – Bristol/London*

We are looking for a Director of Communications to join us as the guardian of the Soil Association brand in its widest sense. You will determine a clear and coherent voice for the organisation; define the tone and style of our communications; and drive a conversation with our audiences that will inform and shape our work.

Our success as an organisation depends on our ability to engage effectively with our membership, the public, businesses, our partners and policymakers. The areas we campaign on are complex, interwoven and include many different but related agendas involving food culture, organic farming, the environment, wildlife conservation, animal welfare, sustainability and human health.

Your ability to cut through this complexity and engage our different audiences on the issues that are directly relevant to them in a compelling, coordinated and recognisable way is at the heart of this challenge. Achieve this, and you’ll help tackle some of the most pressing issues we face as a society.

To succeed, you will be a communications professional with substantial experience at a senior level. You should have developed and delivered organisational communications strategies, have experience of departmental management, and an understanding of brand development. An awareness of food and farming issues and their impact on society would be an advantage, as would experience of working on campaigns.

*Our head office is in Bristol, and we envisage the postholder spending most days working between London and Bristol. Your working base could be flexible beyond the requirement to be in either London or Bristol on most days.

For an information pack, please email soilassociation@morgan-law.com or contact James Stephens at Morgan Law on 020 7747 4931.
Application by CV and covering letter. Closing date 12 noon on Friday 27th July.
