Description

Director of Communications

Full time and based at Slimbridge, Glos.

Founded in 1946 by the naturalist and artist, the late Sir Peter Scott, WWT is the only UK charity with a national network of nine specialist wetland visitor centres. With over 60 years experience of wetland conservation, WWT is committed to the protection of wetlands and all that depend on them for survival.

We are creating two new Director positions to ensure that we have the leadership for both our fundraising and our communications functions.

These two vital functions are the powerhouse that enable us to deliver on all our objectives and ambitions – with the necessary financial resources and the clarity of voice we can only succeed.

Our fundraising includes the full mix of income streams you would expect for the complex organisation the Trust is and there is huge potential for us to utilise the member database to better effect – our members are the heart of the organisation and a resource that requires nurturing and careful stewardship.

The communications challenge in an increasingly noisy and information rich world is an ever present one, but with our history and reputation there are almost endless opportunities to take our messages and campaigns into individual homes as well as to the corridors of power wherever they may be.

Together the two new directors will need to harmonise and integrate our fundraising and communications with the full involvement of the people who all make it happen on the ground for the 364 days a year we bring people and wildlife together.
