The Director of Coastal and Marine Conservation is responsible for development and implementation of The Nature Conservancy’s efforts to protect coastal and marine biodiversity in Louisiana. S/he will fulfill this role by providing expertise on conservation policy and planning efforts and representing the Louisiana Field Office on implementation teams for multi-site and multi-scale conservation strategies throughout the Louisiana coast and within ecogreions of the Gulf of Mexico. The Director of Coastal and Marine Conservation will ensure that current scientific information guides TNC’s implementation of the Conservation by Design framework in coastal Louisiana, which includes setting coastal, estuarine, and marine conservation priorities; developing and advancing effective conservation strategies; working creatively with diverse partners; and measuring success in terms of the Conservancy’s biodiversity conservation mission. S/he will be responsible for preparation of project budgets and will work closely with philanthropy staff to secure program funding. S/he will also collaborate frequently with Director of Freshwater and Marine Science and Director of Government Relations to develop and implement large-scale, scientifically defensible coastal conservation strategies. S/he will be supervised by the Director of Conservation Programs and will be responsible for supervising full and part-time TNC staff assigned to coastal projects |
