Borrego Solar Systems, Inc. seeks an outstanding, entrepreneurial, experienced solar project developer to lead the company’s growth into the Caribbean market, primarily focused in Puerto Rico. A strong applicant will be smart, articulate, motivated, creative, and organized, with the ability to learn the technical and financial details of our business quickly.

About the position:

The primary purpose of this position is to establish and maintain key relationships with potential customers, project developers, financiers, and policy-makers. The candidate will be expected to be the primary regional expert in the company, and must either have or quickly develop fundamental market knowledge and the ability to create a successful plan to win new business.

The Director of Business Development- Caribbean would report to the VP of Sales and would be located in Puerto Rico or on the east coast of the U.S.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Understanding of finance / business concepts (NPV, ROI, IRR, etc)
  • Experience as a project developer in a related field strongly preferred, including energy or real-estate development
  • Successful track record in a complex sales environment, with energy experience a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and interface effectively with cross-functional employee groups
  • Ability to spend time in-person with customers and travel within assigned territory
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in parallel and prioritize competing demands
  • Independence and self-motivation, and the ability to thrive under pressure
  • Tenacious problem solver that can accurately assess, solve, implement, and communicate outcomes of problems
  • Familiarity with formal project management methodologies and ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings a plus
  • MBA preferred
  • Fluency in English and Spanish required
